Ringing Bells abruptly closes booking for Freedom 251; says response far exceeded expectations

Those eagerly willing to book India's cheapest smartphone Freedom 251 will be disappointed as Ringing bells has closed the booking for the phone.

New Delhi: If you were trying to buy Freedom 251, and was unsuccessful even after repeated attempts, you may be in for some disappointed. Ringing Bells, the company that was selling the 3G smartphone online from the website http://freedom251.com has announced that it has closed the booking.

The company launched Freedom 251 on February 17 and announced booking will be held for February 18 to 22 on its website.

The smartphone's website has been plagued with  problems since the day of the launch. The huge interest generated around the phone caused the website crash. The company claimed that the site was receiving 6 lakh hits per second. It also managed to book orders for 30,000 smartphones on the day one.

The company on the phone's site said that demand for the smartphone far exceeded their expectations, so it is closing the booking.

The company also said that it would like to bring out the sale again in Phase 2.
