New Delhi: Seven years ago, on this day, Steve Jobs, the Silicon Valley icon gave the world the revolutionary mobile phone - the iPhone.

Among 5000 attendees, Jobs launched the first iPhone at an event at the Macworld 2007 convention at the Moscone Center in San Francisco on this day. However the 1st generation iPhone (4 GB) was launched in September 5, 2007.

Apple has so far launched 8 iPhone models: Original iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S.

While Apple only offers a single phone model across all markets, it has successfully marketed the iPod music player and its iPad in different sizes and at varying prices.

Jobs, who fought a rare form of pancreatic cancer, died two years ago at the age of 56. He was deemed the heart and soul of a company that rivals Exxon Mobil as the most valuable in America.
