Mumbai: Instances of celebrities visiting places of worship to seek blessings for their upcoming films have been many, but Akshay Kumar is among few Bollywood actors who likes to connect with the almighty everywhere, even at shooting venues. A source close to the actor said that Akshay would at many times venture alone especially in the unexplored interiors to seek out places of worship to find solace. Akshay doesn’t mind the location of where the shrine is situated. It could be a small Gurdwara tucked away in the bylane of Amristar or a Mata temple on a hill in Manali...Akshay climbs that extra mile, covers that extra distance to get there. Akshay’s religious streak came out in the open at Baramati where Akshay had to stay for several months for Priyadarshan’s new film ‘Khatta Meetha’. In Baramati, Akshay discovered a small temple in a far-off place that he immediately felt a connection with. Akshay began to frequent that temple every day. A source from the unit confirmed, “Earlier he wouldn’t tell anyone where he’d disappear too early in the morning, or any time of the day. Soon we found where he was off to. What we didn’t know was that he had taken a mannat that he’d return to the temple when ‘Khatta Meetha’ was ready for release.” And as expected Akshay left on early Saturday morning by a chartered flight, just before he left for Manali to shoot a song with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for Vipul Shah’s ‘Action Replay’ to fulfil his mannat in his favourite temple at Baramati. While Akshay refused to comment saying religion was a very personal matter, though our source confirmed that, “Akshay takes matters connected to God very seriously. He wouldn’t leave for Manali to shoot until he had fulfilled his mannat in that temple in Baramati.”
