Madge under fire over ‘provocative’ teen fashion show

Madonna has been slammed for her new ‘provocative’ fashion range for teens, with some accusing her of ‘sexualising’ girls.

London: Madonna has been slammed for her new ‘provocative’ fashion range for teens, with some accusing her of ‘sexualising’ teenage girls. The pop queen released images to launch the collection Material Girl, which she designed with daughter Lourdes, 13.
But campaigners labelled it “inappropriate”, saying that Madonna was trying to relive her youth through her daughter. One of the shots shows Gossip Girl TV star Taylor Momsen, 17, tangled up in chains with bleached hair and heavy make-up. Another shows her in a mini-skirt, dark nail polish and biker boots. Another has her in a low-cut dress and fishnet tights. “It is not so much the clothes that are the problem, it is the poses that are worrying,” The Daily Star quoted psychologist Jo Hemmings as saying. “You could dress a young girl in a bin bag and make her pose like that and it would still be as provocative,” Hemmings added. Another campaigner added that sexualisation of girls is even linked to eating disorders, low self-esteem and depression. ANI
