New Delhi: He spent his student life in the bylanes of New Delhi, and now television serial producer Rajan Shahi is set to revisit the capital to make a love story-based show with the city as its backdrop.
The show is being made under Shahi`s bannner Director`s Kut Production, for Imagine TV. "My new show is still untitled. But I am glad I am finally making a show based in Delhi. It`s been 18 years since I have been in the TV industry, and have always wanted to come to Delhi and do a show. Finally, I have got the chance," Shahi, who studied at St. Columba`s School, told IANS. "My school days were spent in Delhi, and I also did my graduation from Hindu College, so there`s a lot that I can bring on screen from the city. The city looks beautiful at this time of the year, and so I hope to start shooting next week onwards," he added. Howver, the main set of the show is being erected in Andheri in Mumbai. The producer, who has successful shows like "Sapna Baabul Ka...Bidaai", "Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai", "Kuch Toh Log Kahenge" and "Havan" to his credit, says his new offering will have a "diverse texture". "Each of my shows is different in the feel and texture, in the story, and in the casting. So will this show be. It is a sensitive, youth-oriented love story and Delhi will serve as a canvas for it. It will show a middle-class household in the capital, as well as the rich society of Delhi," he explained. "However, I don`t have a concrete plan as to where all I will shoot. I will try to capture the essence of Delhi with varied flavours. At least that`s the plan," he said. Shahi is also yet to lock the lead actors for the show, as he is quite keen on casting new faces. Known for launching actors like Sara Khan, Parul Chauhan and Angad Hasija, he is on a conscious lookout for actors from north India, especially with a background in theatre, for his new project. "Actors with theatre background are always good, more trained and those from north India itself will add character to the role. There are a lot of good actors in the northern belt, but they don`t have the right access to us producers. So, I am searching for local talent through auditions and personal meetings so that I can create a good palette of actors for my show," added Shahi, who promises to bring veteran theatre actors on screen with the show as well. The show is expected to go on air in the first quarter of 2012. IANS
