John Abraham’s moustache dilemma puts a film on hold

Hunk John Abraham has refused to sport a moustache for a cop role that he is set to play in an untitled film by Vipul Shah. The character’s demand is to look tough and sturdy - all with a real big moustache. But going by the reports, John has put his foot down when asked to sport whiskers. In his past films, John has pulled off rough roles with ease; however for this particular one he seems to have developed some reservations.

Mumbai: Hunk John Abraham has refused to sport a moustache for a cop role that he is set to play in an untitled film by Vipul Shah. The character’s demand is to look tough and sturdy - all with a real big moustache. But going by the reports, John has put his foot down when asked to sport whiskers. This is the first time that John Abraham plays a cop in a film, which is a remake of the Surya-Jyothika starrer ‘Kaakha Kaakha’ (Tamil). Asin has been cast opposite him. The storyline revolves around an expert team of police officers who are up against an organized crime network. John who plays the lead was asked by the makers to sport whiskers and pull off a scruffy look. However, the actor detested the idea and booted the option then and there. Not very convinced with the ‘moochie’ growing concept, John asked the makers to work out a different option and come out with a look that suits best. A source from the industry revealed to the media, "During one of the creative meetings, the idea to have a moustache came up. But John quickly booted the concept suggesting they come up with other options." In both the Tamil and Telugu versions of the film, lead actors Surya and Venkatesh sported whiskers. Hence for the same, John too was asked to bulk up and sport a tough look. In his past films, John has pulled off rough roles with ease; however for this particular one he seems to have developed certain reservations. The film goes on the floor in May, so we expect the filmmakers to come up with an alternative before it gets shelved because of the ‘moochie’ issue! When contacted, producer Vipul Shah says, "We are having a look test soon. We will finalise the look after that."
