It seems that the success of James Cameron`s sci-fi blockbuster `Avatar` is encouraging more and more filmmakers to make movies in 3D and the 67-year-old director has become the latest one to use the technique. Scorsese, known for gritty dramas like `Taxi Driver`, `The Aviator` and `The Departed`, is trying his hands on making a children`s movie for the first time. The movie is penned by screenwriter John Logan. The story revolves around a 12-year-old orphaned boy Hugo in 1930s Paris who lives on a train station and hopes to solve the mystery of a broken robot. The film will star Nanny McPhee, `Big Bang` star Asa Butterfield as the titular character along with with Sacha Baron Cohen and Sir Ben Kingsley. The `Invention of Hugo Cabret` is expected to hit theatres in December 2011. The other films to have used 3-D technology post `Avatar` are Tim Burton`s fantasy flick `Alice In Wonderland` and Sam Worthington starrer `Clash of the Titans`. Burton is also planning to make `Adam`s Family` in 3-D while George Lucas is all set to revive `Star Wars` films 3-D. Another film to get 3-D makeover is `Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows`. PTI
