Jackson memorial plaque to be unveiled

A permanent memorial plaque of MJ is to be unveiled this week in London.

London: A permanent memorial plaque of Michael Jackson is to be unveiled this week in London, a year after the `King of Pop` passed away. The plaque will be unveiled at the Lyric Theatre in London`s West End, currently home to `Thriller Live`, the show featuring a string of Jackson`s solo hits and those with the Jackson 5, reported a news website.
After his death on June 25 last year, fans of the `Thriller` hitmaker flocked to the theatre, creating a shrine of candles, tributes and flowers and signing 40 books of condolence. Jackson passed away suddenly at the age of 50 in Los Angeles, weeks before he was due to perform 50 sell-out dates of his `This Is It` tour at the 02 Arena. Dance group Diversity, winners of Britain`s Got Talent2009, had been booked to appear at Jackson`s London concerts and will attend this week`s event. The unveiling of the plaque on June 24 will also be witnessed by the cast of Thriller Live, while six of the youngsters who have played Jackson in the production will sing `Speechless - The Tribute` before Friday night`s performance. The song, originally recorded by Jackson, is to be released this month in aid of War Child. Adrian Grant, the show`s executive director, commented that the sentiment behind the song "truly reflects the emotions one feels due to [Jackson`s] loss - those of sadness, but also remembering the joy he gave the world as we celebrate his life`."
