DJ Darren Bailie wants to fuse electronic with Bollywood music

Mumbai: He became a global star after composing the international track Infinity and now DJ Darren Bailie of the Guru Josh Project is looking forward to score another hit by fusing Bollywood with electronic music. On his maiden visit to India, the renowned DJ and music producer said he would like to be known as someone who plays music for the people.

"My music ranges from electronic and techno. I have been watching Bollywood films during my visit and will be downloading some tracks. I would love to do a electronic-Bollywood number in the future," he told PTI. In the country to kick off the Gorbatschow Pure Slip Disc festival, the musician has already performed in Pune, Hyderabad and Mumbai. He has played alongside the likes of DJ Tiesto, Tommy Lee, Howard Donald, Felix Da House Cat, Lexy`s K-Paul, Arman Van Helden but his most memorable performance till date is his South American tour. "My most memorable performances were in countries of South America like Paraguay. My music is made straight from the heart," Bailie said. At the tender age of 16, Bailie started his career as a DJ in a small club in Northern Ireland called The Belfry. He set up the Guru Josh Project in 2007 and has not looked back since then. His first solo track Infinity has been certified an international hit. "Infinity is more crossover. My latest solo Silence is more of me. I didn`t want to be too commercial with it. It`s the right combination and I have also used fine notes," Bailie said. He is presently working on remixes for Cascada`s latest release Fever, Boy George`s Amazing Grace and Madonna`s lover Jesus Luz`s debut Scandalous. Given an opportunity, Baile would love to collaborate with Indian artists in the future. "Electronic music is all about evolving. For me personally, Croosover music would be a big thing in the future. Any classical beat will fit into my music. It would be great to hook up with a traditional artist and do an electro bhangra mix," Bailie said. PTI
