Be candid and truthful in your report: SC to CBI
New Delhi: Supreme Court on Tuesday directed CBI chief Ranjit Sinha to clarify by May 6 as to why in the status report of Mar 8 no disclosure was made that draft report has been shared with Government.

CBI Director has been asked to inform on what basis an assertive statement was made by the agency through ASG that status report has not been shared with anyone.

SC has further asked why CBI affidavit of April 26 has not given details about changes made in draft report and at whose instance.

CBI director will now specifically state if draft report was shared with anyone other than Law Minister, Jt Secretary from PMO and coal ministry, as mentioned in affidavit.

SC has directed CBI chief to spell out the procedure being followed by CBI under guidelines on sharing status report on ongoing investigation.

CBI director has also been asked to give details of investigating team including CVs of DIGs/ SPs handling the probe in the coal allocation case.

Posting the matter for next hearing on May 8, the apex court has told CBI to be candid and truthful in its report.
