New Delhi: Farah Khan is mum on what led to a fall out between her and best friend Shah Rukh Khan but the director says she never thought of working without the actor, who starred in two of her films.
The choreographer-turned-director is all set to roll out her new film `Tees Maar Khan` this Christmas, which stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. It is for the first time that Farah is working with a lead actor other than Shah Rukh.
The director, who had once declared that she would never work with any actor other than Shah Rukh, today feels that it is best not to make such announcements in the industry.
"I did say things in that regard and in all honesty, I meant them genuinely as well. However, things changed, circumstances changed and a lot of other things happened that
made me go for Akshay," Farah told reporters.
"I never thought that there would be a day when I won`t be working with Shah Rukh. I was very earnest about that."
No wonder, given the circumstances, she has now decided not to make any tall statements, whether it comes to Shah Rukh, Akshay or any other actor.
"Even now, people ask me whether I would be working with Shah Rukh again. However, I have learnt to keep my mouth shut. `Never say never` is the right adage to be used. You never know how circumstances may change tomorrow," says Farah who worked with SRK in `Main Hoon Naa` and `Om Shanti Om`.
Farah says that the decision to produce and direct the film in the family was not a planned move.
"It was not a planned action on my side, it was just a reaction to what was happening around me at that time. One such reaction was for Shirish and I turning producers. We were not left with any choice but to do so. I am happy that we took that step," says Farah while steering clear of any discussions around her split with Shah Rukh.
The director also clears the misconception that she had first approached Shah Rukh for the title role of `Tees Maar Khan`.
"My choice of the lead hero was Akshay Kumar. I didn`t go to Shah Rukh with the film. Akshay was always the first and the last choice here."
Farah is happy after working with Akshay, who plays a modern day Robinhood in the movie.
"It would be different here as `Tees Maar Khan` is going to be a treat for Akshay`s fans. The film is very clever and modernised. I am sure his loyal audience would have hands full of him once they watch him in the film."
Starring Katrina Kaif and Akshaye Khanna as the lead protagonists, `Tees Maar Khan` also stars Raghu Ram, Rajiv Laxman and Arya Babbar in principal roles with Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor in special appearances.
With music by Vishal-Shekhar, `Tees Maar Khan` releases all over on December 24.
