London: American actress Brooke Shields is relieved that her daughters aren`t interested in following in her footsteps but will support them if they change their minds as they get older.
The former child star, who has two daughters, Rowan, seven, and four-year-old Grier, is delighted that her kids show no interest in films, but will support them if they change their minds once they get older, a news website reported.
"Recently, my children tried out for a cameo in one of my husband`s movies. They went through all the hair and make-up, got so excited in wardrobe, ate the location food and then they refused to go on. And when I asked why, my daughter said, `I just wanted the hair and make-up!` They obviously don`t need approval as much as I did growing up," Shields said.
"If I had my wish, it would be that they won`t want to act. If they do, I`ll support them as long as they get an education," she added.
The 45-year-old beauty insists she is a tough mother, ruling with an "iron hand" because she worries about external influences.
"I`m a hands-on mum and I`m lucky to be able to be that. But kids are so advanced these days. It`s as if they are more than a generation away from us - maybe every generation feels that. And the content on television is so mature, there is a sassiness to these kids that my girls imitate. I have to rule with an iron hand," Shields said.
