New Delhi: Public sectors firm like Jharkhand State Mineral Development Corp (JSMDCL) and Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corp (CMDC) will make presentations with regard to coal mines allotted to them before the Inter- Ministerial Group meetings beginning tomorrow.
"Public sectors firms, including Jharkhand State Mineral Development Corporation (JSMDCL) and Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation (CMDC) will make presentations on the status of their coal blocks and end-use plants during the IMG meeting tomorrow," an official in the Coal Ministry said.
The Coal Ministry had earlier issued notices to JSMDCL for sitting idle on coal blocks like Sugia Closed mine and Rauta and Buarakhap small patch closed mine, among others.
The notices were also issued to CMDC for not developing mines like Gare Palma Sector-I, among others.
Of the total 31 coal blocks allotted to the public sector firms for which notices were issued, almost half will present their case on first day, while the remaining will make presentations on the second day.
IMG had recently concluded the scrutiny of 31 coal blocks allotted to 51 private firms.
IMG on coal blocks is likely to finalise its recommendations with regard to the 31 mines allocated to public sector firms by October 20.
Last month, the government had accepted the recommendations of the IMG, which had suggested de-allocation of 13 mines and deduction of bank guarantees (BGs) of 14 allottees.
A total of 58 mines were issued show cause notices for their failure to develop blocks within stipulated timeline.
The government had formed the IMG in July to review the progress of coal blocks allocated to companies for captive use.
