New Delhi: Parliamentary Standing Committee report on coal blocks allocation was tabled in the Parliament on Tuesday afternoon.

As soon as the report was tabled, both houses saw major uproar over the alleged coal block allocation scam. Lok Sabha was adjourned till Thursday while Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm.

According to the panel report, coal blocks allocated between 1993 and 2008 were illegally allotted and the role of the personnel involved ‘directly or indirectly’ in the allocation process should be investigated.

A leading Indian daily on Tuesday reported that the panel's report goes on to say that the allotment of all coal mines, during this phase, where production is yet to start, should be cancelled.

The report has argued that there was no transparency in the allocation process and the government did not get any revenue from allocation of the coal blocks. The allocations between 1993 and 2004 were done without any advertisement or public information, the report said.

The panel report added that despite information on the government website for allotment advertisements between 2004 and 2008, a transparent process was not followed.
