London, June 07: John Lennon’s son Julian has been helping the real Lucy who played the muse in his father’s famous song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.Julian, who boasts of a successful music career on his own, lent a helping hand after learning that Lucy O’Donnell, 46, was suffering from lupus, an incurable disease.
“I’ve been able to help out a bit. I was so upset to hear what had happened,” a website quoted him as saying. Lucy, who shared a nursery school with the singer in Surrey, became the subject of the song as “the girl with kaleidoscope eyes”. Julian had drawn an image with shapes, resembling the stars, before telling his dad that it was “Lucy in the sky with diamonds”. The late Beatle decided to use it as a title for the track that was featured in the 1967’s album Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. When Julian initially heard of Lucy’s condition, he sent her a massive bouquet with a hand written card, followed by garden centre gift vouchers after learning that she turned to plants for comfort. Lucy said: “It was lovely of Julian. We were two very energetic school kids. He would say, ‘Come on, Lucy,’ to get me to do things. He was the bravest boy in school whom I recall jumping into a freezing swimming pool.” ANI
