New Delhi: Domestic air passenger traffic fell 7.28 percent in November at 50.20 lakh from 54.14 lakh during the corresponding month of 2011, the civil aviation ministry said.

However, on a month-on-month basis the traffic grew by 10.20 percent, as the domestic airlines carried 50.20 lakh passenger in a month under review from 45.55 lakh passengers ferried in Oct, 2011.

"An additional 4.65 lakh passengers travelled in November 2012 compared to October 2012," a ministry statement said.

The month-to-month basis respite came after the passenger traffic fell 8.03 percent for the fifth straight month in Sept and stood at 40.18 lakh from 43.69 lakh in August.

The ministry's data also showed that the total passengers carried by the all domestic airlines in the January to November period felled by 2.94 percent at 534.14 lakh passengers from 550.33 lakh during the corresponding month of 2011.

"The economic slowdown has adversely affected passenger traffic growth in the past couple of months but a rebound is evident," Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh had told IANS earlier.

On a standalone basis, IndiGo had one of the largest market share of 27.3 percent, followed by Air India (20.7 percent), SpiceJet (19.5 percent), Jet Airways (18.3 percent), Go Air (7.4 percent) and Jetlite (6.9 percent).
