Ambani, Hinduja, Adani lead India Inc at Modi swearing-in
New Delhi: A galaxy of industry leaders, including Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, Sunil Mittal and Ashok Hinduja, Monday attended the star-studded swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The who's who of corporate India rubbed shoulders with political big-wigs and diplomats on the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan, which hosted its biggest-ever ceremony with close to 4,500 people attending Modi's inauguration.

Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani, his wife Nita and two sons, his brother Anil and family, and their mother Kokilaben Ambani were in attendance, as were Adani Group head Gautam Adani and his wife.

Hinduja Group of Companies (India) Chairman Ashok Hinduja as well as Essar head Shashi Ruia and its CEO Prashant Ruia were present.

The Mittal brothers - Sunil, Rajan and Rakesh, DLF vice chairman Rajiv Singh, Hero MotoCorp Managing Director and CEO Pawan Munjal, Suzlon Group Chairman Tulsi Tanti and Videocon Group's Rajkumar Dhoot were also present.

From the aviation sector, Jet Airways founder Chairman Naresh Goyal and CEO of new entrant AirAsia India Mittu Chandilya were present.

From the financial sector, Yes Bank head Rana Kapoor, who is also president of industry chamber Assocham, attended.

Representation from the IT sector at the inauguration was led by Nasscom president R Chandrashekhar.

Among the major names missing from the ceremony were Tata Group Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata and his successor at the salt-to-software conglomerate Cyrus Mistry, who were invited but couldn't attend as they were travelling abroad.

M&M Chairman Anand Mahindra and UB Group chief Vijay Mallya were both also out of the country and couldn't make it.

HDFC Chairman Deepak Parekh was unable to attend because of a prior engagement in Mumbai. Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla too had been invited for the event.

Ficci President Sidharth Birla, PHD Chamber President Sharad Jaipuria and IFFCO Managing Director U S Awasthi were among the industry leaders who attended the function.

Chairman of Zee Entertainment Enterprises and promoter of the Essel Group Subhash Chandra was also present at the swearing-in ceremony of Modi.

Also spotted in the crowd was JSW Steel Ltd Chairman and Managing Director Sajjan Jindal. 

Describing Narendra Modi as an "architect of reforms" Suzlon Group Chairman Tulsi Tanti said, "We are confident that under his able leadership, Indian economy will revive. We congratulate government for taking a holistic view on merging and aligning value chain of various ministries under one umbrella".

Chairman of Ambuja Neotia Group Harsh Neotia said, "It is a great moment for Indian democracy. We have seen a spectacular event that heralded a change in power. Modi has stressed on the need for growth and development and there are great expectations from him to take the country forward."
Former CII president and chairman of Nicco Group Rajive Kaul said, "Well, good days are ahead for the country. There are a lot of expectations from him as he is known to deliver."

Kaul said that the country was expecting a strong visionary government and a dramatic change which would deliver on growth, job creation, reining in inflation and reforms.

President of Bengal Chamber of Commerce and CMD of Andrew Yule Kallol Datta said, "Modi becoming PM is good for the country.

"We look forward to lot of action and expectations. Even if 50 percent of the promises made are delivered, it will augur tremendous well being of the country."
