Kolkata: Footwear major Bata India Limited on Wednesday said its net profit rose by 5.2 percent during the second quarter of 2012-13 at Rs 32 crore compared to Rs 30.4 crore in same period in the year-ago period.
Sales of the company during the quarter increased 16 percent at Rs 429 crore as compared to Rs 372.4 crore in the previous corresponding period.
The company said in a statement the quarter witnessed changes in the retail environment with low consumer sentiments and low customer traffic for key retailers.
Shares of the company fell by 3.38 percent to Rs 855.15 on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
