Mumbai: German luxury carmaker BMW on Thursday made available its premium small car MINI through the first dedicated dealership in the country here.

The car maker plans to add 4-5 more exclusive outlets pan India by the end of this year, a top company executive said.

"We will not stop (here) and plan to expand further. We will have 5-6 exclusive MINI dealerships by 2012," BMW Group India President Andreas Schaaf told reporters here.

India is the 100th country where MINI has made its debut. While MINI showrooms in New Delhi would come up next month, the outlets in Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Bangalore will be set up later, he said.

Asked about the volumes the carmaker was looking at this year, Schaaf declined to give any number, saying "MINI is not about volume. Our focus is on brand building and that is important for us."

MINI, available in five variants, is priced between Rs 25 lakh to Rs 35.9 lakh (ex-showroom).

MINI has so far seen 100 bookings and the delivery of the cars to customers would began from May, Infinity Cars Managing Director Pooja Choudury said.

Infinity Cars has been appointed as the exclusive dealer of the premium small car in Mumbai.

The company plans to deliver 25-30 cars a month, she added.
