Adele used phone app to curse post vocal cord surgery

New York: Adele, who underwent a throat surgery recently, has revealed that developing a polyp on her vocal cord last fall felt like “someone put a curtain over my throat.”

The British singer has given her first interview since October, when she had a vocal cord haemorrhage and cancelled the remainder of her tour to undergo throat surgery. Adele told show host Anderson Cooper on ‘60 Minutes’ that there was a precise moment, while performing on a French radio station, that she felt something was very wrong with her voice. “It was like someone put a curtain over my throat … and I could feel it,” the New York Post quoted the singer as saying on the show. “It felt like something popped in my throat.” At the time, Adele explained the tour cancellation to fans by writing a blog post that read, “I have a haemorrhage again and it is paramount that I rest ... Singing is literally my life, it’s my hobby, my love, my freedom and now my job. I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or I risk damaging my voice forever.” Adele explained the surgery she chose to undergo in layman’s terms. “I had laser surgery,” she told Cooper. “[They] put lasers down your throat, cut off the polyp, and kind of laser your haemorrhage back together and fix it.” Adele reveals that the recovery was far more difficult for her than the surgery because the normally out-spoken star had to remain perfectly silent. “It was really hard, I love to talk,” she said. Adele thanks technology for helping her through her silent days. “I had an application on my phone that you type the words into it and then it speaks it. “But the great thing is I love to swear. Most of [the apps] you can’t swear on, but I found this one app where you can swear, so I’m still really getting my point across,” she added. ANI
