Chandra was director of alleged Unitech group firms: Witness
New Delhi: Unitech Ltd MD Sanjay Chandra, an accused in the 2G spectrum case, was a director in some of the alleged Unitech group firms, which were later merged together to form Unitech Wireless (Tamil Nadu) Pvt Ltd, a Registrar of Companies (RoC) official today told a Delhi court.
Deposing as a prosecution witness, RoC's Deputy Registrar Prem Lal Malik told Special CBI Judge O P Saini that Chandra was the director of alleged group companies of Unitech Group -- Aska Projects Ltd, Adonis Projects Pvt Ltd, Hudson Properties Ltd and Volga Properties Pvt Ltd.
The CBI, in its charge sheet, has alleged Unitech Builders and Estates (P) Ltd, Hudson Properties Ltd, Volga Properties (P) Ltd, Adonis Projects (P) Ltd, Nahan Properties (P) Ltd, Aska Projects Ltd, Unitech Infrastructures (P) Ltd and Azare Properties Ltd had merged into Unitech Wireless (Tamil Nadu) Pvt Ltd, an accused in the case, after getting the UAS Licences.
"These documents (which I forwarded to the CBI) included certified copy of certificate of incorporation of Volga Properties (P) Ltd issued on September 1, 2007, fresh certificate of incorporation of Volga Telecom (P) Ltd dated May 16, 2008, consequent to its change of name from Volga Properties (P) Ltd and fresh certificate of incorporation of Unitech Wireless (West) (P) Ltd dated May 22, 2008, consequent to its change of name from Volga Telecom (P) Ltd...," he said.
On being shown a form for filing annual return by Unitech Wireless (west) (P) Ltd, Malik, who had attested the form, said, "I find that this form has been digitally signed by Sanjay Chandra as director of the company and Vineet Chaudhary as company secretary."
The recording of statement of Malik remained inconclusive and would continue tomorrow as well.
Malik said he had also forwarded some documents to the CBI relating to Hudson Properties Ltd which later became Unitech Wireless (Delhi) (P) Ltd.
He said Aska Projects Ltd changed its name to Unitech Wireless (South) Ltd while Adonis Projects (P) Ltd later on became Unitech Wireless (North) (P) Ltd.
He said that separate forms filed with the RoC by these firms were digitally signed by Chandra as their director.
Malik, during his deposition yesterday, had certified some documents filed online by some alleged Unitech Group firms for changing their names as well as object clause.
He had said he had certified documents of various firms, including Hudson Properties Ltd, Nahan Properties (P) Ltd, Adonis Projects (P) Ltd, Aska Properties Ltd, Volga Properties (P) Ltd and Azare Properties (P) Ltd.
