Kolkata: The long pending signing of the fuel supply agreements between Coal India and NTPC will begin from tomorrow, starting with Farraka and Kahelgoan power plants.
"The FSAs for Farraka and Kahelgoan of about four million tonne of coal will be signed on July 11 with Eastern Coalfields," Coal India sources said.
Another set of FSAs would be signed on July 17 in the presence of the Chairmen of the two companies.
A total of 29 FSAs are to be signed by NTPC for a total generation capacity of 9,000 MW.
"There is no technical hitch to signing the FSAs now. It would depend on how many plants are able to complete the paper work and completion of signing of all the FSAs by July 17 would depend on that," the source said.
However, power plants which will sign the FSAs are already getting coal under MoUs.
Coal India provides for about 125 to 130 million tonnes of coal to NTPC at present.
