Nasser Hussain is Akshay’s new coach for ‘Patiala House’

While several renowned cricketers have already been roped in for Nikhil Advani’s ‘Patiala House’, which stars Akshay Kumar in lead role, reports suggest that Nasser Hussain too has been signed on for the project. Earlier, Balwinder Singh Sandhu, who was a part of the 1983 World Cup Indian cricket team, had reportedly worked behind the scenes to help Akki get his act right, as he plays a fast bowler in the film.

Mumbai: While several renowned cricketers have already been roped in for Nikhil Advani’s ‘Patiala House’, which stars Akshay Kumar in lead role, reports suggest that Nasser Hussain too has been signed on for the project. Earlier, Balwinder Singh Sandhu, who was a part of the 1983 World Cup Indian cricket team, had reportedly worked behind the scenes to help Akki get his act right, as he plays a fast bowler in the film. And now, coming down to who would be Akshay’s on-screen coach in ‘Patiala House’, it’s going to be none other than Nasser Hussain, the first English captain of Indian and British parentage, who is known to have record-breaking scores in Test cricket to his credit. Confirming the news, filmmaker Nikhil Advani said, “It wasn’t easy getting near Nasser, let alone getting him to agree. He has a fairly large acting role in the film. But, believe me, it’s easier to sign the biggest superstars of Bollywood and Hollywood than to try and get star cricketers on board and coordinate their dates. The IPL proved a blessing. Cricketers from all over the world were at our doorstep, plus their managers and co-ordinators.” An industry insider reveals that Akshay will join Nasser in London next month and get some tips about fast bowling from the legendary cricketer.
