Mumbai: It seems that actor Ranbir Kapoor is taking too much pains to get into the skin of his character in Anurag Basu’s ‘Silence’. Buzz has it that the actor has decided to go mute from January 2011 to prepare for his role in his upcoming movie ‘Silence’. Ranbir plays a deaf-and-mute character in ‘Silence’. And the actor is learning the art of expressing himself without uttering a word, much like Charlie Chaplin. According to the reports, Ranbir is highly influenced by Charlie Chaplin and is watching Chaplin’s movies these days to learn the art of communicating through gestures instead of words. Talking to a news daily, a source close to Ranbir says, "Ranbir is striving to achieve the opposite of what Tusshar Kapoor did in ‘Golmaal’. While Tusshar`s character makes sure his actions speak louder than words, Ranbir wants his character to be understood without a word or overt body language... just like Charlie Chaplin in ‘City Lights’." When contacted, director Anurag Basu confirms the news saying, “‘Silence’ will be the funniest film I`ve made. Although Ranbir plays a physically challenged character, he is never depressed. This is a film about high spirits. I love the mix of pathos and parody in Chaplin`s performances. His silent films are a reference point for Ranbir. Chaplin could be hilarious even when he was placed in tragic situations.”
