Mumbai: For all those who thought that the portrayal of moody yet sensitive director in ‘I Hate Luv Storys’ is based on Karan Johar, there is a big surprise, for the character has been fashioned on Karan’s close friend Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In ‘I Hate Luv Storys’, Samir Soni plays the role of the temperamental director, who is closely fashioned on KJo’s close pal Sanjay Leela Bhansali, according to reports. It is believed that Karan and Sanjay have been thick friends for years and love interacting with each other. Talking to a news daily, a source said, “A lot of the scenes on the sets of the director’s film in ‘I Hate Luv Storys’ are taken from the way Sanjay conducts himself on the sets.” In fact, Sonam Kapoor assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali in ‘Black’ before playing the lead role in ‘Saawariya’. Likewise, Sonam and Imran play assistants to Samir Soni in ‘I Hate Luv Storys’. “Imran’s and Sonam’s interaction with the director, played by Samir Soni, seems to be right out of the sets of ‘Black’ and ‘Saawariya’. In fact, Imran’s character interacts with Samir the way Ranbir Kapoor did while assisting Sanjay in ‘Black’,” added the source. Even as Punit Malhotra, director of ‘I Hate Luv Storys’ denied any similitude of the director’s portrayal with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Samir playfully downplayed the question and said, “I am not saying anything. You see the film for yourself.”
