200,000 ancient coins found in China

Archaeologists in China`s Jiangsu province have unearthed about 200,000 ancient coins.

Nanjing: Archaeologists in China`s Jiangsu province have unearthed about 200,000 ancient coins in a well at a construction site, Xinhua reported.
These coins, weighing around four tonnes, were found in the Suzhou city. They are believed to be from the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1126), the city`s archaeological institute said in a press release. Construction workers first spotted the well having coins in it Wednesday. The discovery made the archaeologists rush to the site and carry out a day-long digging for the coins in a protective manner. Archaeologists assumed that the large amount of coins might be hidden by some rich family during war in relatively-prosperous Suzhou. The exact source is yet to be confirmed. IANS
