London, July 07: `Britain`s Got Talent` finalist Shaheen Jafargholi, a 12-year-old from Swansea, will perform today at Michael Jackson’s memorial.Shaheen shot to fame after performing the Jackson 5 hit Who`s Lovin` You on the talent competition.
The Jackson family chose the youngster to pay tribute to the late King of Pop at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, telling him that the late star was a huge fan of his Jackson tribute act. “Michael was a huge inspiration to me. I’m nervous, but I’m honoured and privileged to have been invited to perform here,” British tabloid The Sun quoted the schoolboy as saying. A source at the memorial service said: “Michael saw a clip from Britain’s Got Talent on YouTube. He thought it was fantastic and was even considering getting him on stage to perform with him at some of his O2 shows later this year.” Shaheen will perform alongside Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey, Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross, and Usher during the 90-minute tribute. The source added: “The family thought he’d be a great person to get involved. They wanted it to be about artists loved by Jackson, past and present. So he will add some youth to the line-up and is a great example of how Jackson’s legacy lives on.” ANI
