Heads of two SAIL steel plants in fray for RINL top job

RINL, which is expanding its steel-making capacity to 6.3 million tonnes per annum from 3 mtpa now, has aims to have a 20 mtpa production capacity in the next two years.

New Delhi: Heads of two SAIL steel plants, Braithwaite & Co CMD, NMDC's Technical Director and seven other director-level officials in other PSUs are in the fray for the top job in Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL).

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has also invited RINL's Finance and Commercial Directors P Madhusudan and T K Chand to appear before the interview panel for choosing a successor of the current CMD A P Chaudhary, who is slated to retire on December 31, sources said.

The PESB panel, scheduled to interview the aspirants on June 13, will also gauge potential of RINL Executive Director G B S Prasad, NHPC's Personnel Director Radhesyam Mina, MMTC's Marketing Director Ved Prakash, Neyveli Lignite's Director Human Resources Sarat K Acharya and HECL's Production Director Kushal Saha to lead RINL to its next level.

RINL, which is expanding its steel-making capacity to 6.3 million tonnes per annum from 3 mtpa now, has aims to have a 20 mtpa production capacity in the next two years.

"Chief Executive Officers of SAIL's Bokaro and Durgapur steel plants -- Anutosh Maitra and P K Singh -- have been shortlisted by the PESB for the top job in RINL. NMDC's Nanda is also in the fray," a source said.

Braithwaite's Managing Director Sunil K Rishi has also been called for the interview, another source said.

Chaudhary took over the reins of RINL in August 2011. He joined the Vizag-based firm in 2009. He was serving as Director Production of the company before taking over from P K Bishnoi.
