London: ‘Harry Potter’ star Rupert Grint’s fans’ Facebook campaign has given hope to his new film ‘Cherrybomb’, after it initially failed to attract distributors.
The film was earlier screened at the Berlin Film Festival, but nobody seemed interested in distributing it.
Later, the actor’s fans from places like Mexico and Los Angeles set up an online campaign for its cinematic release, and contacted the movie’s sales agent The Little Film Company, to ask about its release.
Now, the producers of the film have said that with the help of a website petition and more than 10000 fans’ support, the film has found a major distributor in Britain.
Apparently, the bosses are also in negotiation with an American distributor.
Meanwhile, Grint has expressed his joy on witnessing the support of his fans.
“I am backing this campaign wholeheartedly,” the Telegraph quoted him as saying.
“I’m delighted by the huge support the film has already received on the official Facebook page and other sites on the web and am so grateful to my fans in particular, who have travelled the world to support the film at festivals and preview screenings,” he added.
‘Cherrybomb’, set in Belfast, deals with sex and drugs.
