Mumbai: Goldie Behl, who is gearing up for the release of his next production ‘London, Paris, New York’, says filmmakers are under no pressure nowadays to please every section of the audience, and this allows them to venture into genre-based content.
"I think it`s a great time to make movies. There is enough opportunity to do a low-budget movie and even to make movies designed for certain audiences. Today, you don`t have the pressure of trying to please the audience all over the country and all of economic status. So we can focus and make genre-based movies," Behl told reporters.
The 36-year-old, married to actress Sonali Bendre, spoke on the sidelines of a promotional press conference held here Friday for ‘London, Paris, New York’.
The movie, releasing March 2, is the directorial debut of Anu Menon, and features actress Aditi Rao Hydari and Pakistani actor Ali Zafar. There is suddenly a rush of romantic-comedies in Bollywood, but Behl says it is up to the actors to infuse freshness into any story.
"The unique thing in every romantic-comedy is the freshness which its director and the cast bring from their side. Romantic stories remain the same. Freshness can be brought either by budding actors or by big stars. So we think Anu, Aditi and Ali have brought freshness to the film," said Behl.
The filmmaker is also producing ‘I, Me aur Main’ starring John Abraham and Chitrangada Singh.
