Kimmel hosts special after the last `Lost`

Jimmy Kimmel has booked a warm-up act for his special show this weekend.

New York: Jimmy Kimmel has booked an impressive warmup act for his special show this weekend.
"Jimmy Kimmel Live: Aloha to Lost," which airs at 12:05 am EDT on Monday, will be preceded on ABC by the much-awaited, sure-to-be-debated finale to "Lost" that begins at 9 pm Sunday. During his program, Kimmel is scheduled to be joined by "Lost" favorites Naveen Andrews, Nestor Carbonell, Alan Dale, Jeremy Davies, Emilie de Ravin, Michael Emerson, Matthew Fox, Daniel Dae Kim, Terry O`Quinn and Harold Perrineau. In addition, Jorge Garcia, Josh Holloway and Evangeline Lilly will make what`s being billed as "special appearances." And for viewers still scratching their heads over the two-and-one-half-hour "Lost" conclusion, Kimmel will introduce three alternative final scenes, each conceived by the series` executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. It`s fitting that Kimmel should host such a shindig. He`s been a huge fan of "Lost" ever since the crash of Oceanic flight 815 on that isle in the middle of nowhere. "I think it might be my all-time favorite show," he said during an interview Thursday. "I`m gonna miss it so much." Who`s his favorite character? "You know, they`re all like my children," he hedged. "But I love Jack and Hurley and Kate and Sawyer. There have been a few along the way I haven`t loved, but most of them got shot or exploded. The producers seem to be reading my mind." On a scale of "Lost" expertise ascending from 1 to 10, Kimmel claims to be an 8. "I give myself homework after each show," he explained. E-mail and discussions about each episode are part of his weekly regimen. "If I`d studied this much at college, I`d be the governor by now." Of course, even after six seasons there are people who still don`t feel the magic of "Lost." "Most people who don`t watch `Lost` have kind of a preconceived notion that it`s like doing an enormous Sudoku puzzle," he said. Kimmel`s studio audience — presumably made up of people who don`t feel that way — will screen the finale Sunday afternoon. "Then, as soon as that ends, we`ll pick right up taping." Cuse has said he and Lindelof are "satisfied with the finale." How does Kimmel think viewers will receive it? "I know everyone wants every question answered at the end of the show," Kimmel said. "I want every question answered, too! But let`s be honest: Every question isn`t going to be answered. I think we`re going to have to accept that, going in, or we`ll probably be disappointed." But Kimmel doesn`t plan to be disappointed. Just a little sad, maybe, that "Lost" has reached its end. Bureau Report
