New Delhi: Supreme Court judge Justice JS Khehar wrote to CJI R M Lodha offering to recuse himself from hearing the Sahara case, a court official said on Thursday.
CJI has constituted another bench to hear the matter relating to Sahara Group, the official said.
The request comes days after after a bench comprising of Justice KS Radhakrishnan and Justice JS Khehar cited "pressure, tension and strain" for the two-member bench in dealing with the "complicated" matter.
Justice Radhakrishnan, who retires today, has been hearing along with Justice J S Khehar the case involving Sahara Group chief Subrata Roy and two other directors who are in jail since March 4 for failing to abide by the apex court's order to refund Rs.20,000 crore of investors' money.
The Supreme Court had on May 6 disapproved of the Sahara Group chief Subrata Roy "calculated psychological offensives and mind games" while upholding its order jailing him.
