London: American popstar Jessica Simpson`s mission to uncover `The Price of Beauty` left her with a bad taste in the mouth after she tried eating fried insects in Thailand to lose some weight quickly.
The curvy singer, who recently came under fire for gaining weight, chomped on the dead bugs at a Bangkok food market after being told they could burn extra calories, reported an online agency.
The `Sweetest Sin` singer who has been traveling around the world shooting for the show `The Price of Beauty` popped a bug into her mouth only to retch and spit it out.
"It had a little slime in the middle of it and you could feel the legs," she grimaced.
During her pursuit of the shocking lengths that some women go to in order to feel beautiful, Jessica met one Thai woman who ruined her appearance after trying to bleach her skin.
She also visited a women`s tribe whose members wear stacks of heavy gold rings in order to stretch their necks, underwent a back-breaking
Thai massage, and was reduced to a fit of giggles during a meditation session with a Buddhist monk.
"It`s a very blessed life that I live but I`ve lived my life in this fish bowl," said the 29-year-old.
"People put so much pressure on women to be beautiful. There`s always a new diet to follow, a new beauty product. But is that really what defines beauty?" she added.
