Chicago: Hollywood veteran Michael Douglas says his age makes it difficult for him to "keep up" with his two young children. The 65-year-old actor, who has son Dylan, nine, and seven-year-old daughter Carys with wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, admits his advancing years have taken their toll on his body
and he struggles to be a part of their boisterous life, Chicago Sun-Times reported.
"I must say that I`m really cherishing having the young kids in my life, although they`re making me age fast.
I can`t catch them. They run faster than I can. God knows, I had my knees replaced, but I still can`t catch them."
The actor, who stars in the sequel `Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps` also has a 31-year-old son, Cameron, from his marriage to Diandra Luker.
Cameron is currently in jail over drug possession charges and Douglas blames it on his break-up and absence during the growing up years of his elder son.
The actor says he has now eased off on his work commitments in order to spend more time at home with his family.
"I`m so fortunate I have Catherine, who is a great wife. But the truth is I do have the time with them. I cherish the time with them. I`m picking a lot fewer projects now. It`s tough to get me out of the house," he said.
Jones, at 40, is 25 years younger than Douglas but he insists their age gap helps their relationship, rather than being a problem for them.
"I can understand why certain ladies who have their own careers want someone a bit older. In Hollywood, sometimes couples who are both acting compete. It`s something else when someone is at a different stage of their life and career.
There is no competition," he said.
