Alicia Keys inspired by Bono to do charity work

London: R&B superstar Alicia Keys was inspired to U2 vocalist Bono to launch her own charity and use her fame for the benefit of the under-privileged.
The `Fallin` hitmaker is a prominent campaigner against the spread of AIDS in Africa and has launched her own charity, Keep a Child Alive and it was Irish superstar Bono`s advice that prompted her passion for philanthropy, Daily Mail reported. "(Fame`s) a currency - you must use it well or lose it. Bono told me that, and I totally agree. Now I`ve achieved a certain level of fame I know I must make good use of it, especially as I`ve been around the world and know suffering in a way I didn`t before," Keys said. "That`s why I launched my charity Keep A Child Alive. I was so moved to meet people in Africa who have so little and yet are so generous, people who`ve been to hell and back but retain their dignity and are fighting for their dreams. The charity gives people the chance to chase those dreams," she added. Bono is one of the leading celebrities who do charity work, heading four non-profit organisations which help raise funds for impoverished families in African countries. pti
