Washington: Legendary singer Tony Bennett, who teamed up with Amy Winehouse for his latest duet ‘Body and Soul’, has revealed that he wished he had met the late singer earlier, because he feels he could have saved her before it was too late.
Just four months after he recorded the duet with Winehouse, which became her final recording, she was found dead at her home. Bennett now admitted that he would always regret not doing more to help her fight drug and booze addictions. “I``ve also had a period of insecurity and darkness but was able to pull out of it. A lot of people got into drugs in the 60s but I was able to stop. The few I knew who couldn``t stop have died,” Contactmusic quoted him as telling the Mirror. “I wished I had been able to talk to her much sooner to tell her to slow down. When I got the call to say she had died I was so sad - 27 years old and she died,” he added. ANI
