New Delhi: Debutant director Pranav Dhiwar is all set to direct a comedy titled "Gandhi Ki Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana", which he describes as a unique love story about a modern-day couple named Gandhi and Kasturba. "The film is a modern-day love story of Mahatma Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi. It is a story about a boy whose father was a freedom fighter. He is so inspired by Mahatma Gandhi that he names his son Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Similarly the girl’s name is Kasturba," Dhiwar said on phone from Mumbai.
Before venturing into direction, Dhiwar worked as an editor on films like "Mr Singh Mrs Mehta" and "Dabangg". He is currently directing a serial called "Crime and Bollywood" for Zoom TV. Asked whether using the names of the Mahatma and Kasturba, two of the most revered figures of Indian history, would irk people, Dhiwar said: "We are not dealing with any historical facts here, it is a simple comedy. Only the characters` names are same, but their traits are completely modern. Everything is in good humour." "Some people might just try to create a controversy due to the names in the film, but when they watch the film they`ll know there is nothing defaming in it." TV actor Karanvir Bohra, popularly known as Prem of Ekta Kapoor’s "Kasautii Zindagi Ki", has been finalised for the role of Gandhi, but the female lead has not been decided yet. Bohra is also producing the film along with wife Teejay Kaur Sidhu under the banner KT Movies. Teejay will also work as an assistant director. The script is written by Rahul Patel and Varun Grover. The film is likely to go on floors in August and Dhiwar plans shoot it in Gujarat. IANS
