Yunus to appear in `The Simpsons`

Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus has lent his voice for `The Simpsons`.

Dhaka: Bangladesh`s Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus has lent his voice for a special episode of `The Simpsons` to popularise Grameen Bank`s micro-credit schemes. The special episode of `The Simpsons` will be aired Oct 3 this year in the US. It will focus on Grameen Bank`s micro-credit schemes, a news daily said on Monday.
The Simpson family is one of the best-selling animated TV series which is popular all over the world and recognised as one of the world`s most enduring cultural icons. The Simpsons is an American animated television series created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company. Yunus` voice has already been recorded and the episode is ready to go on air, the Yunus Centre announced. Yeardley Smith, who lends her voice to the character `Lisa Simpson` in the series, arrived in Dhaka July 20 for a week-long visit to study the Grameen Bank model and other initiatives of Yunus, United News of Bangladesh (UNB) news agency reported. An admirer of Yunus, Smith has visited and provided support to Grameen micro-credit programmes in Haiti and other countries. IANS
