Washington: Will Smith has revealed that he and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith treat their children as independent.
The 44-year-old actor told Haute Living that his style of parenting is similar to that of his mom and dad, but without the concept of ownership.
He said that in his opinion, specifically in African American households, the idea coming out of slavery, there is a concept of kids being property and that was a major part that he and his wife released with their kids, Us magazine reported.
The Hollywood hunk said that the couple respected their kids the way they would have respected any other person.
He said that the couple never told their kids to clean up their room as a full-grown adult is never told to clean their room.
Instead, they framed the chore to their children in a different way, telling them that they have let them borrow the couple`s room so they should keep it clean.
