Kolkata: Sanofi India (previously known as Aventis Pharma) Tuesday said it aims to double its consumer healthcare business in the next five years.
"We have a share of 2.1 percent of the total Rs 27,000 crore consumer healthcare market in India. We aim to double it in the next five years," Sanofi senior director (consumer healthcare), Anindya Chowdhury said here Tuesday during the launch of OTC medicine Combiflam Plus.
The consumer healthcare portfolio that consists of 41 products for Sanofi currently generates close to Rs 560 crore revenue out of total turnover of Rs 1,230 crore in 2011, he said.
The company will remained focused in the segment as it accounts for 40 percent of the total pharma market in the country, Chowdhury said.
Speaking about the new OTC brand Combiflam Plus, Chowdhury said the company was looking at 4-5 percent marketshare of the Rs 233 crore headache tablet segment in India.
Meanwhile, Chowdhury said Combiflam Plus, is a targeted, fast and effective solution for headaches. It will be available in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Punjab and Haryana in the pack of four tablet.
