Budgeting is a tough nut to crack for Aamir Khan!

Aamir Khan is perhaps the smartest filmmaker Bollywood has seen of late. Just a peek at the line of films made under his production house - ‘Lagaan’ (2001), ‘Taare Zameen Par’ (2007) and ‘Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na’ (2008), and you see how well they have fared at the Box Office. However, the actor says that when it comes to budgeting a movie, he is pretty much a failure.

Mumbai: Aamir Khan is perhaps the smartest filmmaker Bollywood has seen of late, for all his projects are done with absolute precision and sheer buoyancy. Just a peek at the line of films made under his production house - ‘Lagaan: Once Upon A Time In India’ (2001), ‘Taare Zameen Par’ (2007) and ‘Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na’ (2008), and you see how well they have fared at the Box Office. However, the actor says that when it comes to budgeting a movie, he is pretty much a failure. Sources close to the actor assert that no matter how hard he works, his film always go over the budget. Talking to a news daily, Aamir said, “Actually my films never get made in the decided budget. The more I plan, the more it increases.” The actor further said, “I had expected the budget of ‘Peepli Live’ to be around Rupees six crore to seven crore. But it went up to twelve crore and then to thirteen crore.” And looking at the scheme of things, the industry specialists feel that the budget is only expected to rise with the elaborate marketing campaigns that Aamir seems to have planned for the film. Well, whatever is the case, if the film gets a thumps up from the audience, every penny spent by Aamir will be worth the deal.
