Singapore's Swissclear targets Indian pre-paid TV market
Singapore: Singapore-headquartered Swissclear Global is negotiating with leading Indian television broadcasters and content providers to offer services through its pre-paid card system.

"We are looking at a massive 350 million digital service users in India by 2016, given the demand for ‘on demand services’ by the rapid growing mobile phone subscribers," Swissclear founder and chief executive officer Sandy Agarwal said today.

"Our focus is on the growing Indian market though market development continues across the globe," said Agarwal, who comes with experience of handling interactive services at Nokia besides holding executive positions at Discovery Channel and ESPN.

The pre-paid system serves as cash based access to entertainment, gaming and sports for consumers and outsmart the pirated versions for the content producers, he pointed out.

Agarwal said Swissclear’s pre-paid card services were being expanded from the current entertainment and gaming segments to sports through links with television channels and content providers in India as well as in China, South Korea and Hollywood.

The current global prepaid market is estimated at about three billion people who have access to internet.

"We already have established a good working relationship with the Philippines? leading television channel, TFN TV," he added.
