SpiceJet gets show-cause notice for Companies Act violations
Mumbai: Chennai-based low-cost airline SpiceJet has been sent a show-cause notice for alleged violation of provisions of the Companies Act.

The Chennai office of Registrar of Companies (RoC) sent the notice to the second-largest no-frills private carrier last month.

"We did send a show-cause notice to SpiceJet for violating the Companies Act. The notice was sent to the airline on December 26," an RoC official told PTI Thursday.

The official did not divulge details about the nature of violations by the Kalanithi Maran-owned listed airline.

When contacted, a SpiceJet spokesperson admitted to receiving the notice but did not elaborate.

Meanwhile, in a late evening statement, the Kalanithi Maran-promoted SpiceJet said the airline has complied with the applicable rules and regulations and termed the show-cause notice from the Registrar of Companies as administrative in nature.

Denying any violation of the laws, a SpiceJet spokesperson in an email statement said: "This is to clarify that the company has complied with applicable rules and regulations and the clarification sought by the authorities have been adequately provided. These are administrative in nature and there is no violation."
