New Delhi: Tata BP Solar India on Thursday said it has changed its name to Tata Power Solar Systems, as part of a restructuring and appointed Ajay Goel as the CEO.
"Tata BP Solar India on Thursday formally announced name change to Tata Power Solar Systems. As part of a previously announced restructuring. Tata Power Solar is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power," an official statement said.
The company has also announced Goel as new Chief Executive Officer.
Goel, an alumnus of IIT-Delhi with an MBA from the University of Chicago, brings over 20 years of broad industry experience to the team, with the last five years deeply focused on the solar industry.
"The company would continue on the growth trajectory with the same passion and zeal that it has displayed since its inception," Adi Engineer, Chairman, Tata Power Solar said.
"I am truly excited and honoured to join a team that pioneered the solar industry in India and remains at its vanguard even after 20 dynamic years, Ajay Goel CEO, Tata Power Solar said.
Tata Power Solar offers a wide range of innovative solar systems and solutions for rural and commercial markets, supported by a network of 150 dealers and service centres.
"In line with Tata Power?s commitment to clean, green energy, we are happy to integrate Tata Power Solar as a sunrise business into our operations. It embodies our focus and passion for sustainability and care for the environment," Anil Sardana, Managing Director, Tata Power said.
Tata Power Solar was founded in 1989 as a joint venture between Tata and British Petroleum and currently operates independently as a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power.
The company is focused on harnessing solar energy to bring electricity to the masses. It operates primarily in three key segments? large utility projects, industrial solutions and standard products & systems for mass markets.
It also owns and operates over 80 MW of solar cell manufacturing and over 120 MW of solar module manufacturing at its headquarters in Bangalore.
