Patna: Filmmaker Prakash Jha said he was helped by maths wizard and `Super30` founder Anand Kumar to impart maths teaching skills to Amitabh Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan for his upcoming film `Aarakshan`.
"I am really thankful to Anand Kumar for his sincere efforts in helping me to direct the maths coaching portion of the film. Kumar accepted my request to come to Mumbai and coach me in mathematics," Jha told reporters. "It has been an exciting experience. It became very easy for me to direct Amit Ji and Saif Ali Khan for the maths teaching scene. I am really indebted to Kumar for the way he coached me," he added. "His inimitable style of teaching and grasp of the subject reminds me how a learner learns the ABC of maths. "I am also looking forward to a meeting between Kumar and the two actors very soon. We will extend our warm welcome and acknowledge the endeavor he made for us by sparing time from his busy schedule," Jha said. Asked what prompted him to take Kumar`s help, Jha replied, "He is known for his dedication to teach students from the underprivileged sections of society with perfection, free of cost. He does not even charge for their lodging and meals." Having missed the opportunity to go to Cambridge in 1994 due to acute financial constraint, Anand set up the Ramanujan School of Mathematics for poor children in 1992. In 2002, he set up `Super 30`, where he provides free education, food and lodging to 30 talented students from underprivileged sections of the society for the IIT-JEE. In the last nine years, 236 students have qualified. Anand, who is impressed by the gesture of Jha, said, "I wish him success for the film." `Aarakshan` is slated to release on August 12. PTI
