New Delhi: United Breweries Ltd (UBL) on Monday said its strong beer portfolio, including Kingfisher Strong and Kingfisher Red brands, has achieved record sales of 100 million cases in the 2012-13 fiscal.
Kingfisher Strong, crossed 80 million cases while Kingfisher Red, a relatively new brand crossed the 1 million case mark, a commendable achievement in the competitive strong beer segment, UBL said in a statement.
"The remaining volumes are credited to the combined force of regional brands in UBL's strong beer portfolio such as -- UB Export Strong, Kalyani Black Label Strong, Bullet, Cannon 10000, London Pilsner Strong and Zingaro," it added.
UBL Managing Director Kalyan Ganguly said the domestic market for strong beers has been growing year on year and is in fact driving the Indian beer industry.
"Strong beers now account for more than 83 percent of all beer sold in India, up from 80 percent last year. We expect the strong beer market to continue to grow in double digits per annum," Ganguly added.
He added that UBL currently has a market share of over 50 percent in the beer segment.
UBL Senior Vice President (Marketing) Samar Singh Sheikhawat said the company's strong beer portfolio posted a growth of 15 percent in 2012-13, as compared to 2011-12.
