Taylor Momsen dropped from `Gossip Girl`

Los Angeles: After being dropped as the face of Madonna`s clothing line, Taylor Momsen has now been let go of her acting job at hit show `Gossip Girl`.

The series, starring Blake Lively and Leighton Meester, is set to return for a fifth season in the autumn but both Momsen and co-actress Jessica Szohr will be missing from the line-up, reported Us Weekly. Their respective characters Jenny and Vanessa will only be invited back on a guest star basis. Momsen, 17, has taken a hiatus from the show in recent months to concentrate on working with her band, The Pretty Reckless, while Szohr has played an increasingly smaller role over the fourth season. The five main stars Blake Lively (Serena), Leighton Meester (Blair) Penn Badgley (Dan), Ed Westwick (Chuck) and Chace Crawford (Nate) - will all be back when the show returns this autumn and Kaylee DeFer will become a regular.
