Mumbai: The 1975 blockbuster, ‘Sholay’ that became a cult film will remain one of the most watched flicks for years to come. Produced by GP Sippy and directed by his son Ramesh Sippy, the multi-starrer film garneres rave reviews even till date. And with the super-hit film donning a new 3D avatar, fans of the film have a reason to smile. Rohan, son of legendry filmmaker Ramesh who enjoyed every single frame of the film said, "Sholay in any format is enjoyable." Ironically, the film originally produced by the Sippys has now found new producers in Subash Ghai and Ketan Mehta. Their banners Mukta Arts and Maya Digital have undertaken the task of giving a three dimensional appeal to the epic film. Rohan has no issues with Ghai and Mehta who have planned to give ‘Sholay’ a 3D feel. However, he has an advice or two to give them. He said, "I just hope they do a world-class job at re-formatting the film in 3D. Because we have recently seen that the 3D quality of several foreign films has been plain average." Junior Sippy who believes in keeping pace with the ever evolving technology has learnt the basics of incorporating 3D in movies. He said, "I have been studying the 3D technology a bit but there are several factors that go into the making of a 3D film". "Firstly the story should be such that the format can be exploited well. Secondly length is an important factor. A 3D film needs to be as short as possible because it gives physical strain to the viewer in terms of watching the film with glasses. Thirdly budget is a major concern plus you need to re-learn the entire process of filmmaking", he added.
