Mumbai: Ali Zafar may have been singing love ballads for close to a decade now but the singer-actor says he has explored his romantic side the most in his upcoming film `London Paris New York`.
The film, shot in the three cities over a span of 30 days, is the first ever romantic comedy for the Pakistani artiste, who began his career with the off-beat film "Tere Bin Laden". "`Tere Bin Laden` didn`t have any romance in it while `Mere Brother Ki Dulhan` wasn`t sweet and saccharine either. However `London Paris New York` is as romantic as it gets. "This is my first ever romantic solo and I am quite excited about it. Travelling to all these beautiful cities in the world anyways makes your heart beat faster. I have romanced this much for the first time ever," Ali told PTI. Directed by debutant Anu Menon, "London Paris New York" features Aditi Rao Hydari as the leading lady opposite Ali. The actor says it was quite a thoughtful decision to step into it, especially since he wanted to be really sure before signing on as the lead in a full-on commercial entertainer. "I am very cautious about the fact that a script has to ultimately translate well into a film. I work really hard before finalising a script. `London Paris New York` wasn`t an easy script either. We went through a lot of workshops and readings to get it right. There are quite a few conversations in the screenplay and each of them required the right feeling, time and attention." Centred entirely on the two characters played by Ali and Aditi and travelling across the cities of London, Paris and New York where the two meet for one particular day for three years in a row, the film doesn`t have any supporting cast to boast of. "The film is about two people meeting in different points in life and this is what we have also tried to communicate. Also we have made sure not to go overboard. Otherwise sometimes we tend to over indulge ourselves in our story telling," said Ali. The fact she is a woman made a difference in Anu`s approach towards story telling as well. "She didn`t hesitate learning about a lot of things while doing the film. She was very clear that what was the kind of film she was making. She didn`t want to bring on those typical dialogues and scenes that had been done to death before. "Thankfully, all of us had the same thought. That helped making `London Paris New York` the kind of film that it has turned out to be." PTI
