New Delhi: Although he is quite new to the industry, but actor Imran Khan seems to be emerging as one of the most versatile actors we have in Bollywood. In the short span of his filmy career so far, Imran has wooed the audience with his charm as a chocolate boy of ‘Jaane Tu..Ya Jaane Na’, and also won accolades for his macho look in ‘Kidnap’. Dressed in a casual blue ‘Superman’ T-shirt and a torn pair of blue jeans, Imran looked hot as he promoted his upcoming film ‘Luck’ at an event here on Thursday. Girls were seen screaming out his name in excitement throughout his presence at the event to celebrate Radio Mirchi`s show ‘18 Hamesha’ along with RJ Stutee. In an interview with Bhavna Khullar of Spicezee.com, Imran spoke about his experience in ‘Luck’ and also talked about his upcoming projects.
Excerpts: Q. What do you have to say about your character in ‘Luck’? Imran: Well, I’m playing a very straight-forward middle class guy called Ram, who works in a bank and is in a need of money, which is why he gets into illegal gambling. So, it’s definitely a complete action joy ride. Q. Do you personally believe in luck or do you think hard work is most important? Imran:I completely believe in hardwork and I’m in two minds about luck. I don’t know if such a thing exists because I don’t think it makes sense, but you can’t grow without it. And I’ve lived a very good life, so that makes me believe in it. Q. How was it working with Sanjay Dutt for the second time after ‘Kidnap’? Imran:Honestly, I was quite nervous initially, because he looks like a tough guy and of course is very talented. But during the shoot he was very shy and I got really comfortable and easy with him. So yes, working with him was a lot of fun. Q. And how was the experience of working with Shruti Hassan? Imran:I have known Shruti since childhood. And while shooting with her, I never thought she was a first time actress. She was very confident and very easy to work with. Q. After watching your own performances in ‘Jaane Tu’ and ‘Kidnap’, which role did you like better? Imran:See, I have grown with each film. And frankly, I have never liked any of my works so far. I mean I have never said anything like ‘Wow’, after seeing my performance. Q. It seems that you are kind of experimenting with different genres of films. Imran:I’m trying to do different kinds of films so that I don’t get bored of doing the same kind of films every time. And I don’t want my audience to get bored, which is why I keep challenging myself to do different roles. Q. You said you want to work with Kareena. What do you like about her? Imran:Yes, I want to work with Kareena because I really like her work professionally. And also personally she’s my favourite actress. So I’d love to work with her. Q. And who’s your favourite actor? Imran:Aamir Khan! I think he’s the finest actor we have in the industry. Q. So are you a perfectionist too? Imran:See, I won’t call myself a perfectionist, but yes, if I am putting my name on something, I make sure that I give it my best. Q. Please tell us something about ‘Delhi Belly’. Is it a remake of ‘American Pie’? Imran:No. ‘Delhi Belly’ is not even close to ‘American Pie’. I’ve been hearing about this rumour, but it’s completely not true. Beyond that, I can’t tell you anything about the film. Q. And you haven’t charged Aamir for ‘Delhi Belly’? Imran:Yes, I haven’t. Not just because it was for Aamir mamu, but because it’s a small budget film. Even if it was for an outside production house, and I would have loved the story, I would have done it for free. Q. You really seem to be enjoying interacting with your fans. Imran:I always love meeting my audiences and fans face-to-face and I love interacting with them at live events such as these. I feel I make fans for life. I think it helps keep you grounded.
